Goods excluded from parcel delivery compensation
Please be aware that the following goods are excluded from compensation.- Antiques (objects over 100 years old)
- Any dangerous, hazardous or prohibited goods (as detailed in our full list of goods we can't carry page).
- Articles made largely or wholly of gold, silver or other precious metals
- Ceramics or composites wholly or partially made of china and/or porcelain*
- Compensation will not be paid for delay if multiple items have been strapped together
- Diamonds and other precious stones
- Eggs in the event of damage
- Fossils, stones, or stoneware*
- Glassware* - items partially or wholly made of glass or containing glass, e.g. picture frames that contain glass
- Human and animal remains including ashes, other than those being sent for medical research. Those which are sent for medical research should be packaged to ensure no contamination. Limits on the types of service available and categories of claim are the same as for perishable goods
- Jewellery (except imitation)
- Marble or any stone derivative
- Money - bankers drafts, current bank notes, currency notes or coins, credit cards, debit cards, uncrossed postal orders which do not state to whom they are to be paid, cheques or dividend warrants which are uncrossed and made payable to the bearer, bearer securities including share warrants, scrips or subscription certificates, bonds or relative coupons; unfranked postage or revenue stamps (except a revenue stamp embossed or impressed on an instrument which has been executed), coupons, vouchers, tokens, stamps, lottery tickets, scratch cards or similar items which can be exchanged by themselves or with any other item for money or goods or services, national insurance stamps, all tickets including travel and events
- Musical instrument hard cases and suitcases when used as external packaging
- Musical instruments will only be covered up to £150 of compensation for loss or damage
- Negotiable documents
- Real fur
- Resin* items, Amber and composites
- Restricted goods, where the instructions have not been heeded
- SIM cards
- Stamps
- Watches
Perishable goods
When sending perishable goods, these must be able to withstand transit times of at least 48 hours. Claims for damage will not be accepted where goods have perished and the parcel was delivered within 48 hours.Auction websites
To process claims made for items purchased using an auction website, the auction reference number and final receipts of purchase will be required.Collectable items
Items which have appreciated in value either due to their scarcity or due to their being out of production are not excluded from cover. However, any loss of, or damage to, any collectable shall be limited to the actual price paid for the collectable and shall not exceed the stated limits of compensation as set out on the what we do page, subject to the customer providing satisfactory written or printed evidence.* In the case of fossils, stones, stoneware, resins, ceramics and glassware, we'll pay compensation for loss or delay of parcels, but not damage to the items.
